The Lift, October 3, 2010

Today was a great day at First Baptist Indian Trail.  The Lift Service really rocked!  We saw 5 people give their heart to Jesus and many others respond to the message.

  • It was an honor to have Dave Edwards from Oklahoma be our guest speaker...he gave an amazing message that God used in BIG ways.
  • Most of us have experienced a crisis of faith at sometime in our life.  A situation in which we find ourselves losing hope.  When that happens, many times doubt creeps in.
  • Make sure and watch today's message below! Passage for today's message was in Matthew 11. John has been imprisoned and doubt seems to creep in.  Yet Jesus says that, "Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist!" Below are some points made in today's sermon.
  • When doubt creeps in...remember these three things about Jesus.
  • 1.  Jesus is The Christ
  • Jesus' last name is not Christ.  Jesus is His name, Christ is His office (it's His job description).  Christ means = the anointed One.
  • It's Jesus The Christ!
  • Who do you believe Jesus to be?
  • All world religions are horizontal, Christianity is vertical.
  • Christianity is about God reaching down to us through Jesus.
  • In the middle of doubt, who do you believe Jesus to be?
  • Has there been a moment when Jesus, who is the Christ, has become personal to you?
  • 2.  Jesus is in control
  • In a moment of doubt the easiest thing to do is to lose site of the work of God.
  • To say that God is in control is to say He has the last say so in your life.
  • 3.  Jesus is commited
  • God hasn't forgotten you!
  • I LOVE THIS STATEMENT...John the Baptist let truth take him back to the act of trust.

Personal Note:  I watched an entire row of people (mostly students) individually get up during our service and go stand outside instead of listening to the message.  My heart breaks for them because today they missed God! Where has the respect for our services gone?  When I was growing up, you didn't leave the service...especially during an invitation!  Parents...let's be an example...when the message starts, DON'T LEAVE! It keeps you from fully engaging and getting on God's wavelength. If that doesn't happen, it becomes more difficult to respond to the message of Jesus.
