Sermon Highlights:
-
Today's scripture 1 Peter 1:13-17
-
if you think it is easy to live the Christian life, then you are not living the Christian life but a cheap imitation of the real thing.
-
Peter calling for people to get their minds ready for action for we are at war.
-
The battle for the minds of people is greater now than ever and it's only going to get worse. We must set our mind on the things of Christ.
-
Many Christians when they come to church check their minds at the door and shift in neutral.
-
If your not spending daily time in the Word of God your setting yourself up for failure.
-
Difference in faith and hope...faith is the ability to believe in something that God has already done and hope is the ability to believe what God is going to do in the future.
-
Don’t indulge yourself in all those things that you did before you trusted Christ.
-
If you are people of God, then you are going to be a reflection of God and if you are unholy then it is going to taint God image before the world.
-
Live your life so that your lifestyle, the words you use, the places you go will glorify God.
Outlook determines outcome; Attitude determines action.
A Christian who is looking for the glory of God has a greater motivation for present obedience than a Christian who ignores the Lord's return.
Look at the story of Abraham and Lot. Abraham had his eyes on heaven, he had no interest in what the world had to offer. Lot on the other hand tasted the pleasures of the world in Egypt and gradually moved toward Sodom. (God destroyed Sodom on account of the wickedness of the people.)
Abraham brought blessings to his home, while Lot brought judgement.
Our outlook determines our outcome!
Looking for Christ to return strengthens our faith and hope in difficult times. Are you living life in preparation for Christ's return?
