The Lift, January 2, 2011

2011 got off to a great start today!  The Spirit of God moved in the hearts of everyone in attendance.  Mike and the band did a wonderful job leading in worship.  Our pastor laid a challenge before us, to go into this new year as a new person by following Paul's example from Philippians. We experienced a tremendous move of God during the response time.  Our volunteer teams really showed out today!  Everyone from hospitality to our break down crew.  Thanks Lifters for all you do! 

As I thought about today's topic, here are a couple of thoughts...

ONE.  If you want to live in victory in 2011, stop being a victim to your past!!  Your sins are forgiven and Jesus has washed away the stains.  Paul said forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.  Why don't we make this the year we reach forward?  Stop looking back, focus on moving forward!

TWO. Let's make this year (2011) be our most God glorifying year ever!!

"Botox or Bliss In 2011"
Passage used: Philippians 3:7-16

10 million people and about 10 billion dollars will be spent on plastic surgery this year.

Observations about change...

• Permanent change is inward and temporary change is outward.
• For change to occur in your life, there must be a dissatisfaction with the present, an awareness of a better condition and a knowledge on how to make the change.
• There must be a time of declaration. (write it down, publicly declare it, seek accountablity)
• There has to be a continual strength and reinforcement from God.

3 things we must have to be a NEW PERSON.

1. We must have the RIGHT PRIORITIES.
   - Matthew 6:33...seek first the Kingdom of God.
   - Are you trusting God to take care of your needs or are you trusting yourself?
   - Jesus will be number one in your life when you really love Him...IT IS A MATTER OF LOVE.
   - A sign of drift in your life is when other priorities creep up above Jesus.
   
   
2. We must have the RIGHT PLAN.
   
   
3. We must have the RIGHT POINT OF VIEW.
   -2011 can be a great year not because of what you are able to obtain, but because you are able to change.
