Motorcycle Crash Making Headlines Again

After over 500,000 hits on MySpace and 173,450 on YouTube, David's Disciple Now crash is still making headlines.  Tuesday night (March 9) Comedy Central's, Tosh.0 aired Motorcycle Crash In Church in a piece they called, Wheelie Fall.  The shows host, Daniel Tosh, gives David a hard time for his "Wheelie Fall."  Although the 1:44 segment is funny, the perception of the church gained through the monologue is saddening.

The subtle innuendoes pertaining to the church and its culture leads one to believe there is some church history in the host's background.  The monologue is about more than a motorcycle crash, it's an indication as to how the world views the church.  It's statements like, "I'll pretend I'm fine with no sex before marriage...", "Out of the way Promise Keepers", and "There goes the bingo table and the pamphlets as to why abstinence is fun", that cause me to wonder what are we communicating to people about the church organization.

As church leaders, are we raising generations of church supporters or generations of church opposers?  Watch the video and tell me what you think?

That's My Kind Of Wedding!

Being the huge Apple fan that I am, when I ran across this story I just had to pass it along. This past Valentine's Day there was a couple who tied the knot at New York's Fifth Avenue Apple Store. The couple got to know each other while the other was looking to buy an iPod. A conversation was made and well the rest is history.  The guy officiating the wedding is dressed up like Steve Jobs and reading the vows from an iPhone (I like that!!).

As one who does weddings, this location would have been awesome.  However, I would have had a difficult time dealing with all of the photographers.  Maybe for my next wedding I'll suggest we move the cermony to a more modern venue...like an Apples Store!
